Effortlessly Chic Maxi Dresses

Effortlessly Chic Maxi Dresses

Have you ever thought how to look effortlessly chic when it’s hot and your legs are swollen so much that you can’t fit the jeans you wore a week ago?

This happened to me this summertime. The problem of water retention is not new to me but this year it has shown a new (puffy ;)) face.

And although whole my body was swollen and my face was round and puffy like a full moon, I found a way to look effortlessly chic and feel comfortable even in the hottest day of the year. How? Please let me share with you my secret weapon: maxi long dress. Believe me, there is nothing more gorgeous and feminine than an ethereal maxi dress! I find it very romantic and glamorous. And no, long dresses are not only for skinny, tall models with incredibly long legs.

I strongly believe than every woman despite the body shape can look gorgeous in a maxi dress as long as she is respecting some rules.

The rule of thumb is to keep the right proportions. Choose a full-length dress that fits well your body especially around hips, thighs, and waist. Opt for maxi dresses with a v-neck in natural colors as they will make you look taller and leaner. If you want more variety, choose the prints that are scaled to your body size.

Naturally long, vertical prints are the most favorable for the body, as they have a great elongating and slimming down effect. Be careful with color blocks – they may make you look shorter and wider.

I’m not very tall, but I’m not a pettite either (171cm) and I love wearing my maxi dresses with ballerinas or simple elegant sandals. However if you want to add yourself few more cm you can wear the maxi dresses with pumps, espadrilles, or high-heeled sandals.

With the right accessories you can create a look you want, but always keep in mind that “less is more”.

Hands up who else is a maxi dress lover?

Monochrome Friday

Monochrome Friday

Have you ever wondered what makes a woman chic? There are many things like i.e. the way she moves, talks, her gestures and language, tone of the voice and so on. Among all of them there is also her outfit. I believe that the more toned colour attire is, the more elegant result is. Personally I like monochrome compositions and simple – but not banal – cuts. And trust me, black is not the only color you can wear from head to toe. In fact I rarely wear black due to my condition and never-ending-peeling. There is no harm though because I replaced it with camel and beige. Have a look at this effortless perfect-for-Friday look. Isn’t it classy?

Have a relaxing weekend!

Never drop your standards

Never drop your standards

Lately I read an interesting article about Sophia Loren. I had a chance to see countless photos from her youth and the last years, and what struck me the most was her elegance in every situation. Whatever she was/is doing, wherever she was/is spending time, she is always chic and stunning. In fact if you think about it what all the fashion icons (i.e. Audrey Hepburn, Elisabeth Taylor, Coco Chanel) have in common is that they never drop their standards. This reminds me also what Oscar Wilde once said: you can never be overdressed or overeducated. So ladies: never stop learning, and never stop being chic!

Stick to classics

Stick to classics

I am sure we all have days when we want to look particularly great. Let’s face it, in my case my outfit very often depends on the state of my skin. If AD attacks me, I want to cover myself as much as possible and, to be honest with you, I would rather prefer to stay in bed all day long instead of going out but this is not always an option. I tested many color-combos and after various experiments I came to the conclusion that only light colors can make the redness of my skin less visible.

My advice to all people with AD (and other skin conditions) is as follow: always stick to the classics.

Here is a sample of outfit when your self-confidence is close to zero: simple camel dress + white blazer + high heel pumps + camel handbag and statement bracelet = perfect look even if you do not feel perfect. Btw in such an outfit nobody will ever see that your morals are not really up! Take care of yourself! 🙂

Classy duet: beige and white

I love spring and summer! As soon as the first rays of sun appear, I immediately switch to lighter colors. The duet beige and white holds a special place in my heart, because it is sophisticated, fresh and summery. I found this color combo really elegant, therefore these kinds of pieces are not rare in my wardrobe.

I believe you agree with me that this particular set is a quintessence of a good taste and a great balance. The simple yet not boring at all cut of the shirt  and the blazer make this look even more desirable! Oh, and this beige goes well with almost everything, so you will never run out of ideas how to wear it! One more reason why it’s worth to invest in classic pieces! Last but not least: do not forget to roll-up the sleeves of the blazer to look more casual and stylish!
