Effortlessly Chic Maxi Dresses

Effortlessly Chic Maxi Dresses

Have you ever thought how to look effortlessly chic when it’s hot and your legs are swollen so much that you can’t fit the jeans you wore a week ago?

This happened to me this summertime. The problem of water retention is not new to me but this year it has shown a new (puffy ;)) face.

And although whole my body was swollen and my face was round and puffy like a full moon, I found a way to look effortlessly chic and feel comfortable even in the hottest day of the year. How? Please let me share with you my secret weapon: maxi long dress. Believe me, there is nothing more gorgeous and feminine than an ethereal maxi dress! I find it very romantic and glamorous. And no, long dresses are not only for skinny, tall models with incredibly long legs.

I strongly believe than every woman despite the body shape can look gorgeous in a maxi dress as long as she is respecting some rules.

The rule of thumb is to keep the right proportions. Choose a full-length dress that fits well your body especially around hips, thighs, and waist. Opt for maxi dresses with a v-neck in natural colors as they will make you look taller and leaner. If you want more variety, choose the prints that are scaled to your body size.

Naturally long, vertical prints are the most favorable for the body, as they have a great elongating and slimming down effect. Be careful with color blocks – they may make you look shorter and wider.

I’m not very tall, but I’m not a pettite either (171cm) and I love wearing my maxi dresses with ballerinas or simple elegant sandals. However if you want to add yourself few more cm you can wear the maxi dresses with pumps, espadrilles, or high-heeled sandals.

With the right accessories you can create a look you want, but always keep in mind that “less is more”.

Hands up who else is a maxi dress lover?

The power and timelessness of classics

Basic rules
The power and timelessness of classics

I love watching colorful top fashion magazines and knowing the current trends, tendencies, what is “in” and what is “out”. However when it comes to me, I am very selective regarding the trends. By nature I am practical person and my practicality manifests itself in all the aspects of my life including my style. I believe it is important to be truthful to your style and never follow the trends blindly. I will go even one step further and dare to say that I find horrible some of the trends, because what can be elegant in wearing the socks and sandals? Notabene, years ago we laughed at and criticized bad taste of people who were wearing socks with sandals and this year suddenly this combination became trendy… Honestly, I do not get it…

Fashion IS my passion. However in my case it came up from the need to hide my disease (AD) rather than willing to be a fashion icon. Before combining my outfit was a necessity, now it is a pure pleasure. I love creating my own stylizations, playing with colors, fabrics.

I strongly believe that a good taste is something you have or not, but it does not mean that people who do not have an aesthetic sense can’t be well dressed. You can always learn how to avoid the biggest mistakes by following Seven Rules of Chic:

Rule 1. Stick to simplicity

Rule 2. Choose timeless pieces over trend items

Rule 3. Splash neutrals with colors.

Rule 4. Use max. 3 colors in the same time

Rule 5. Never underestimate the power of well-chosen accessories

Rule 6. Never compromise on practicality & comfort

Rule 7. Be always in synch with yourself

Last but not least, do not forget: what is trendy not always is elegant, and what is elegant is always trendy!

Powder pink chic

Powder pink chic

I have never liked pink. I always thought this is for never-grown-up girls and I definitely felt mature. One day though I was flipping through the colorful magazine and saw the combo that grabbed my attention: white trousers, powder pink silk blouse and camel coat. This was one of the most beautiful and feminine set I have ever seen. Since then my wardrobe gained one more colour – I gave a chance to powder pink and I do not regret it!

Off-duty Chic

When I was a teenager I was crazy about six-pack on the belly. I remember exercising every day on the floor in my room with Cindy Crawford on the screen. After one year of extremely hard work I was a proud owner of flat belly with nicely shaped muscles! However this was years, years ago. Now the situation and my priorities changed. And let’s face it, as a full-time working mum of 3-year-old I can only dream about having as much time as years ago. However today I decided to find at least 30 minutes every day for exercises. And no, this time it is not because I want to have a six-pack but because I want to be in a good shape in general. Due to my condition (AD) not all kind of sports is for me. I love swimming therefore I am going to mix this discipline with some fitness at home and long walks.

Speaking of which, if you are also fans of long walks, here is an idea for a feminine sport outfit: a rose-grey top match with a sweat pants. Put all your belongings to the backpack, slide your feet into the pink loafers and off you go! Have a lovely walk!
